A few minutes later, an ambulance arrived. Along with the police, taking my dad away in cuffs. News cameras and journalists hovered all around, trying to get a piece of what happened today. I objected to commenting, but my sister was full of stories. Keeping everyone satisfied with her tales. Cadence was awake now, not much damage done. They said it was a minor head wound and that he didn't need to go back to the hospital in the ambulance.
After they bandaged up his head, he came over to me, taking me in his arms and showering me with a thousand kisses. "So, I guess that means your leaving now, huh?" I asked, looking down at my feet.
"Well, not yet. You still haven't fully accepted God back into your heart. I can't leave until you do that," he responded, hugging me close. "But, don't feel as if I'm pressuring you. To tell you the truth....it would give me the chance to stay longer."
"Cadence, you have been waiting for this a long time. I think I'm ready to help let you go...," I said, looking up into those grey eyes.
"So, you are saying goodbye then," he said, those grey eyes clouding over with hurt.
"No. I'm saying that I believe in God again. I think I have all of this time and just didn't realize it because of how much pain I was enduring. But, that doesn't mean that this is goodbye, Cadence. I have this feeling that we will meet up again someday."
"Will you still love me?"he asked, fear written on his face.
"Forever and ever,"I said, then kissing him on the cheek. That's when something happened. A faint bright light began to glow around him, encasing him in it. I couldn't see, and I felt the need to hold onto Cadence. But, when I reached for him, there was no one. Finally, it was gone in a flash and I stood there blinking. Trying to regain my vision.
When I could see again, Cadence no longer stood there before me. I began to panic, knowing that I didn't even get a chance. My heart constricted and I could feel the tears coming. I bit them back when I saw my mother coming over to me.
"Hey, where did your friend go?" she asked, looking around.
"He had to leave," I said queitly. She studied me for a second and then suggested for us to go inside. I followed along, longing for the comfort of my old bed again.

Two weeks had gone by. No sign of Cadence and I was barely getting over him. Mom had recovered from the whole event with my father and even decided to start attending church again. Everything that had happened, seemed to rest in the past now. Those thoughts didn't seem to jump into my mind until today. I listened to our pastor finish his speech on how even though we may go through tough times, God will always be there by your side. Then, when he was done, the choir began to sing.
The music filled the cathedral, as everyone went around, hugging and saying "God bless you on this fine day". I got up to do the same. I hugged a few people from school that I knew, a couple of the senior citizens who come visit the church on Sundays, and a few adults that were new friends of my mom. As I was making my way through the groups of people, I bumped into someone, sending their pamphlets, scattering across the floor. I stopped to help him pick them up.
"Thanks,"he said, as his gaze met mine. My heart nearly stopped. Two grey eyes, stood out under a layer of curls. I thought for a second that it was Cadence, but when I blinked, another face peered back at mine.
"Has anyone ever told you that you have such beautiful green eyes?" he said, smiling.
"No," I said, a blush slowly creeping up my cheeks.
"Well, now someone has." I smiled stupidly, and finished helping him pick up his pamphlets. When we stood faced to face now, he extended me his hand. "I'm Damien," he said smiling. I took his hand and responded with,"I'm...umm....Celeste." Then, when I thought the hand shake was over, he pulled me close and swiftly kissed me on the cheek. "See you around Celeste." I blushed a vibrant red. I looked up to one of the glass stained windows. It held an angel with black wings and around its head, the sun peeked through, creating a makeshift halo. "I'll always have my dark angel," I whispered, hoping the wind would carry my voice to the heavens, where Cadence sat, watching over me.
